HENGANOFI DISTRICT CELEBRATES 60 YEARS OF ADVENTIST WORK
The Seventhday Adventist Church in Henganofi celebrated its 60 years of work in the district. A weeklong program was hosted to coincide with the celebrations from the 23rd to the 30th of October. Pastors Zuzai Hizoke from Eastern Highlands Simbu Mission and Andrew Opis from the PNGUM were the guests for the bible studies. Reflections and dramas were part of the occasion.
On the guest day (26th-Wednesday), the newly constructed district SDA office was officially opened by the Right Honourable MP for Bena Unggai Benny Allen. Committing K20,000.00 to the District SDA Head Quarters, Hon. Benny Allen, urged the church to continue its good work and especially to partner with the church to bring in the much needed services to its members. The local MP for Henganofi also committed a desk top computer with a printer.
A monument commemorating the church’s 60 years of hard work was also unveiled by Pr. Benny Soga, President for the Eastern Highlands Simbu Mission in front of the Jontebe SDA Church which hosts the district head quarters.
The membership was challenged to recommit itself to God and His church with powerful messages coming from Zuzai and Andrew. Emphasising along the theme “Proclaiming God’s Grace”, they unflinchingly put to them the necessity of experiencing that grace before they can proclaim it. Praise God 79 new people stood for the Lord when the alter call was made by Zuzai Hizoke on closing evening.
The Lord of the work will continue to bless and guide Henganofi District in the years ahead. Henganofi district has a membership of 3348 baptised members and 7970 Sabbath School members. Anyone willing to support the district can do so in consultation with the Eastern Highlands Simbu Mission office treasury on (675) 532 1225. Their current need is to furnish the newly opened office as well as to help sponsor students from the area to Sonoma Adventist College for Ministry.
