FAREWELL FOR THE LATE MEVIE LAUNA
The SDA Church in Eastern Highlands Simbu Mission is mourning the loss of one of its active laities. The late Mevie Launa, manager- corporate services with Fresh Produce in Goroka was serving as elder for Burning Hill (Nagamiufa) SDA Church when he died on a business trip to New Zealand.
The late Mr. Launa was a onetime Executive Committee member at the PNGUM Executive Committee as well as the South Pacific Division Executive committee. He is survived by wife Aizo, and children Junior Launa, Heather and Oliver and grandson Junior Mevie.
After a moving funeral service at the Burning Hill SDA Church on Sunday (30th October), his body was taken up to his village in Chuave in the Simbu Province where he will be laid to rest on Friday 4th November 2011.
Many remember the late Mevie as a very humble and down to earth person. One who mingled with all classes of people- he was truly a people person. He will be dearly missed not only by his family but the whole Goroka and Simbu community and the church which he loved to the core of his being.
